My work explores the relationship between the human body, constructed environments, and the systems of support that often remain unnoticed. I create sculptures and installations using bronze, steel, plaster, wood, textiles, and found architectural materials. These substances carry distinct physical and cultural associations. Bronze suggests permanence and commemoration, steel evokes infrastructure and industry, plaster records touch while remaining vulnerable, and textiles bring the intimacy of clothing, shelter, and domestic labor. By placing these materials in conversation, I examine how strength and fragility can exist within the same form. Many of my sculptures begin with observations of ordinary gestures: a body leaning against a wall, two hands supporting an object, fabric folding under weight, or a person adjusting their posture to accommodate another. I translate these gestures into abstract structures that suggest the body without illustrating it directly. A curved plane may function like a shoulder, a vertical element may resemble a spine, and an opening between two forms may imply distance, dependence, or an attempted connection. Negative space is therefore as important as solid material. It represents what is absent, withheld, or made possible through the relationship between objects. I am particularly interested in structures that appear stable at first but reveal an underlying tension. Elements may balance at unexpected points, lean toward each other without touching, or seem to carry a weight that is not visible. These arrangements reflect my interest in interdependence and in the often invisible negotiations that allow individuals, families, communities, and institutions to function.
